FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is in the spotlight in the midst of a new controversy surrounding the FBI officials.

McCabe was on Capitol Hill this week, where he testified before the House Intelligence Committee behind closed doors for nearly eight hours. His Tuesday testimony came amid calls will be a shot for him over allegations of conflict of interest and anti-Trump prejudice to the FBI.

What should I know about his FBI career?

McCabe started at the FBI in 1996 as a special agent and has also said “leadership positions in the Anti-Terror Department, the National Security Branch, and the Washington Field Office,” the FBI.

McCabe’s wife, Dr. Jill McCabe, ran for a Virginia state Senate seat in 2015. The political action committee for Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat and Clinton ally, who donated $467,500 reported to the campaign, The Wall Street Journal. Andrew McCabe was the associate Deputy Director of the FBI at the time.

Andrew McCabe “played no role, attended no events, and not to questions of funding or support of any kind”, the FBI, the magazine said in a statement. “Months after the completion of your campaign, then-Associate Deputy Director of McCabe, he was appointed Deputy, where, in this position, he took over for the first time, a power of control during the investigation, Secretary Clinton’s E-Mails.”

What do we know about the McCabe education and early career?

McCabe received a J. D. from the Washington University School of Law in 1993 and his bachelor’s degree from Duke University in 1990, his bio on the Senate Intelligence Committee website says. He was a lawyer before joining the federal law enforcement agency.
