The Farmer is not concerned with speculation about resignation at Crystal Palace

Manager Frank de Boer is quite under pressure at Crystal Palace by a dramatic competitiestart, but the Dutchman is not concerned with all the speculation about his position.

“I am aware that there are always rumors about the manager, I’m used to at clubs where the pressure is high when you have no results,” said De Boer on Friday at his press conference in the run-up to the Premier League match at Burnley on Sunday.

“I always try to not deal with the emotion. I concentrate only on the things where I have influence over and that is to train with the players and try to make the situation as quickly as possible to improve.”

The Farmer, who this summer at Crystal Palace, was appointed as the successor to Sam Allardyce, lost his first three league games, with ‘The Eagles’. The goal difference of the club from London is dramatic (0-6).

In the interlandsperiode of the past two weeks, the pressure on the Dutch coach, therefore, increased considerably in the English newspapers. The Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday even that chairman Steve Parish talks have been conducted with The Farmer, and that the former trainer of Ajax and Internazionale have one contest gets to his job to save.

Ultimatum

The Farmer rejected Friday that an ultimatum has been made by the Parish. “I have indeed spoken with Steve, we like every week to come together all kinds of things to discuss. We have a very good relationship. We know that this is not a project of one day, it is a long-term process.”

“You can’t expect every match to win. I’ve been thirty years in professional football, sometimes the process some more time. But I have a positive feeling about it, the training was good the past few weeks.”

The Farmer gets in his first months as manager of Crystal Palace, particularly a lot of criticism on his style of play, which differs greatly from the more typical English game under Allardyce last season. The North-Hollander tries on paper to a 3-4-3 system in grinding, whereby the outer midfielders fullbacks.

Selection

“The problem is that everyone thinks that I have but one way they can play,” said The Farmer. “They call it now 3-4-3, but you could also say that the 5-3-2 is.”

“We have technical staff really good, our selection of looking and in our opinion this is the best for the team. But we can also in a more direct way to play, though that differs from how I normally do my teams to play.”

The Farmer knows that a good result is important to the confidence of his players on to increase. “And I’m sure good results will come if we keep doing what we do now. I always stick to my principles. I talk with all the people at the club, but we have a plan and that not necessarily completely overlapping.”

Burnley-Crystal Palace starts on Sunday at 14.30. Burnley has four points after three matches.
