Frank de Boer is looking forward to his official debut as the coach of Atlanta United. The MLS club is going in the night of Thursday on Friday on a visit to Costa Rica’s Herediano in the CONCACAF Champions League.
The Farmer has a good feeling about the contest in the North and Central American version of the Champions League and hopes his hunch is confirmed during the match in Costa Rica.
“We have a very good preparation and we now want to see that the players are the elements of the training in the practice,” says the former trainer of Ajax, Internazionale and Crystal Palace.
“Of course, there may still be a lot better, but all noses are in the same direction. We have a lot of meaning in. It is a new tournament for us, so we look forward to our season in this way to start.”
It is the first time that the five years ago-created Atlanta United, that since 2017 in the MLS plays, opens at the international level. In the diptych with Herediano is a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on the game.
The focus is on tomorrow 👊

‘Must all take into account’
The 48-year-old Farmer is aware that he and his team compared a passionate and motivated opponent, and that the state of the field in Costa Rico, probably, not the best.
“We must take into account all the circumstances and they accept it. I think we have more quality, but since you win not always easy,” says the former defender.
“If you’re not with the same intensity of play as the opponent, this is a very difficult evening.”
Herediano-Atlanta United starts Friday at 4.00 pm Dutch time. The return in the United States is next week Friday at 2.00 pm. Three days later against DC United the first competitieduel on the program.
