The australian company, the local population to defend ‘offensive’ tourism slogan: ‘Snowflakes melting in the heat’

The goods with the controversial slogan can be excluded from places such as the Darwin-market and other stores in the Northern Territory.

The new slogan is not exactly a “wish you were here.”

A non-official tourist slogan that was used to draw attention to Australia’s Northern Territory is facing a lot of backlash and a possible ban in the region – for the use of suggestive wording.

NT Unofficial made of the brutal expression, out loud reading, you will See in the NT (Northern Territory),” but on paper, has been shortened to look like an offensive derogatory four-letter term for women.

(Warning: The following link contains the slogan, which may be offensive to readers.) The company began with the sale of the swear-word adjacent slogan printed on t-shirts and other merchandise at shops in the whole area in 2016, and claims that it is never a problem.

“Our official supplier of the Mindil markets is the sale for years without any problem,” the company told the NT News in a statement. “We hope that the council, not to mention the real NT Unofficial tirelessly campaign for the promotion of the Territory of the world.

“There is nothing offensive or demeaning to women about a simple invitation for the largest territory on earth.”

However, the official Darwin Council, who can enforce laws that ban indecent material is sold in the shops, at the market, said she fielded many complaints over the years and met this week to discuss a possible ban for the “offensive” sentence.

The controversial slogan has prompted the debate within the region.

“The complaints are about these goods, which [has] been on display near the playground… kids will say ‘what does this mean” and it’s not something parents like to explain.” said Darwin Council official Robin Knox, the NT News reported. “In common usage this word is not a joke, it is used very negatively and as a slur against women.”

The local population is divided on the issue, with a lot of shooting back on Facebook, slamming the materials.

“The feeling that there is an error in the design here,” wrote.

“Must you stoop this low to advertise for your Area!!! NO !!!! TAKE IT FROM FACEBOOK !” another wrote.

“But the walk to the shops with his own children, perhaps they would not question it, but I think it is pretty poor taste. I think the Area should develop into a little bit,” a man told NT News.

But there are many loyal supporters of the cheeky slogan.

“It is one of the most creative and intelligent things I’ve ever heard,” another local, Ross, said. “Snowflakes melt in the heat.”

“As a born n bred Darwinite I [heart] to adopt and embrace NTunofficial and their property,” a Facebook user wrote, signing the message, “the Care insight into northern Territorian.”

Local companies have reportedly also supported the goods, with indication of the popularity of the items that have helped them to remain open.

“It is our inability to act of the firing of personnel, the” shop owner Tracey Wedel told 9News. “Prior to receiving the stock, we were struggling in a big way.”
