The 1975 doesn’t play more in festivals, especially the male artists

The British band The 1975 have pledged to no longer be at the festival to play with the male to female ratio among the artists are not the same. The already planned gigs to go to, but new commitments will be made only if there is a fair distribution.

Frontman Matt Healy responds a call from a journalist from The Guardian, who pointed out that with the popular British festival Reading and Leeds has an uneven distribution: of the 91 artists in the three-day festival will be occurring, there are twenty women.

A journalist from The Guardian was a call for the performers to have to perform at the festival, where the distribution is fair. Healy said on Twitter that his message could be seen as a promise. “With this, I put my signature on the contract.”

“We already have some festivals and a defined benefit that may or may not meet these distribution requirements, and that we are not going to cancel it because I am the fans do not want to disappoint you, but from now on, we no longer are in agreement, because I think that this is the way in which male artists are able to show that they are real allies are,” said Healy.

Take this as me signing this contract I have agreed to some festivals already, that may not adhere to this, and I would never let the fans down who already have tickets. But from now, I will-and believe this is how a male artist can be true allies, ❤ ️ https://t.co/1eaZG2hEze
