The former U.S. coast guard commander allowed Thad Allen has proven to be a “serious candidate” to be President, Donald Trump’s pick for Veterans Affairs Secretary, sources close to the transition say, Fox News.

The VA position is one of the last remaining slots in the trump-Cabinet, for the President-elect has not yet announced, to nominate a candidate. The Department was reeling in the last years of the conflict with falsified patient wait times and other scandals. Trump has promised to reform the Department.
