Tesla shares jump on-leaked-deliveries, and e-mail, entertainment, software, update

(Reuters) – Tesla Inc. (TSLA.(O) shares closed up 6% Thursday on a report that the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Elon Musk, and saw “a shot” to deliver 100,000 cars in the quarter, and the company has said that it is rolling out a software update for the to watch movies and play games with the cars.

The electric car maker is expected to provide the details of the quarter, vehicle deliveries of the next week or so.

Musk said that the main focus is to bring the vehicle in to the hands of the customer who place order at the end of the month, Electrek reported, citing an internal e-mail. (a little bit.m/2ltUmuU)

Tesla did not respond to a request for comment.

The new version of the software for the electric cars that will be launched this week, and will have support for media streaming, including Spotify, Pandora, Slacker when it is parked and connected to the Wi-fi connection. (a little bit.m/2n0cmxg)

The update will be released to the cars via an over-the-air update, similar to software updates on smartphones and tablets.
