HAMILTON, Ohio Ohio teenager who pleaded guilty to fatally shoot her father is sentenced to juvenile detention until they are 21.
The 15-year-old was convicted on Monday in Butler County juvenile court. She pleaded guilty last month to a murder charge. She was originally charged with aggravated murder.
Authorities say the teenager a loaded gun and shot her 71-year-old father in the face in February 2017 in the family’s home in Hamilton, about 30 miles (48 km) north of Cincinnati. The authorities say they told 911 dispatchers that she shot him.
Her lawyer says that the girl accepts responsibility. A motive is not yet offered.
The judge says the teen could serve a number of years to life in adult prison if they are not worn in the juvenile detention.
The Associated Press generally does not name minors charged with crimes.
