Teen faces adult charges in the death of the boy taken in stolen car

CANTON, Miss. – A Mississippi teenager faces charges in connection with the in 2017, the killing of a 6-year-old boy in a stolen car.

Dwan Wakefield was 17 years old at the time of Kingston Frazier died. He is certified to stand trial as an adult in the last month. Local media report that he was served Monday with a criminal complaint accuses him of accessory after the fact to murder, kidnapping and motor vehicle theft.

Wakefield is in prison and awaiting a bail hearing. Previously, he was free on $275,000 bail.

Another teen, D, ” All of Washington, pled guilty to accessory after the fact to kidnapping in February. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss other charges in exchange for testimony.

Authorities say a third man, Byron McBride, stole the car and fatally shot Frazier. The prosecutors want to seek the death penalty against McBride.
