This gives a whole new meaning to being “cool”.

The most fearsome predator ever to walk the Earth, Tyrannosaurus rex was similar to a “air” out of her head, allowing it to stay cool, according to a new study.

The giant dinosaur had two large holes in the roof of the skull (dorsotemporal fenestra), which are filled with muscle-to the aid of the jaw movements of the body. But a University of Missouri anatomy professor Casey Holliday said that he was intrigued by the unusual function, which in turn he will look into it.

To that end, he and a team of researchers used thermal imaging to the modern crocodiles, in a park, in the Florida keys.

Larry Witmer, one of the other co-authors, said that, like the T. rex, you have to have the holes at the top of their skull, which are filled with blood vessels.

And yet, for more than 100 years, we have chosen the groups in a similar space, with the dinosaurs,” Witmer added. “Through the use of some basic anatomy and physiology of modern animals, we can demonstrate that we are able to tip over that first set of hypotheses about the anatomy of this part of the T. rex skull.”
