Swedish hockey team beat defending champions Canada in world cup final
Sweden is the new world champion in ice hockey. The Swedish hockey team defeated Sunday night defending champions Canada in the final in Cologne 2-0 in the shoot-outs, after the match at 1-1 was finished.
For Sweden, it is the first world title since 2013 and the tenth in total. Canada, with a 26 time world champion, won the title in the past two years.
Sweden came at the end of the second period on 0-1 Victor Hedman, after both countries in the first period, knew not to score. Early in the third period, pulled Canada stand equal again thanks to a hit by Ryan O’reilly during powerplay.
