Mariska Hargitay says that playing her iconic character of Olivia Benson on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” is a fulfilling experience at the Tribeca TV festival.
Mariska Hargitay Detective Olivia Benson go hand-in-hand! The 54-year-old actress opened up to ET on Thursday at the Tribeca TV-Festival of the 20th anniversary of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” about her connection with her old character.
“We merge. We come together,” she says about the similarities between himself and Benson. “I think we are each other’s teachers. But yes, she has taught me a lot.”

Hargitay says she feels “fulfilled” play Benson, and not reveal it, ends they had in mind for her character.
“It is a lesson in being present and not thinking ahead,” she notes of the future of her show. “If you asked me 20 years ago, I never thought I would be here 20 years later, and I am fulfilled and I love my co-stars and it is an incredible cooperation with the producers and writers, so I’m really enjoying it.”

After 20 years, Hargitay still considers its task to be ” an incredible privilege,” sharing”, With moments such as these, you are kind of forced to really do because I feel like I’ve been in this marathon for 20 years. You know do the job daily life and in our days are long, so it was a long and beautiful [trip] to have moments to celebrate.”
Looking ahead, Hargitay is content with staying in the present.
“I’m thinking about this year and this season and how you the best and think a little bit about next year,” she says.
