‘She wears a plastic crown like Cinderella and roller skates in bed.” When Bon Jovi 17 years ago, sang about his Beauty Queen From Mars sounded like it might be weird that they are roller-skating, went to bed, but when you get acquainted with the new pair of Veja and Flaneurz, you understand that there are people who have their shoes on wheels don’t want to pull it out.
After two years of research and development grew the dream of the young founders of Flaneurz to a patented product. In collaboration with Veja they worked on an innovative reinterpretation of the old-school baskets on rollers. The French labels are also asked council to have a team of experts from the ‘Institut National de Podiatry’ and a test panel of experienced rollerskaters. The efforts loonden: the project was awarded with the Talents des Cités-award, a prize for young entrepreneurs in the popular French quarters.
Both labels strive for sustainability and ethics in their designs. The funding for the project was done through the American crowdfundingwebsite Kickstarter, with projects by third-party financing.
This limited edition basket-rollers costs 475 euro. They are available from June in a select list, Veja multi-brand stores and via www.veja-store.com or www.flaneurz.com. In Belgium, the roller skates available at Privejoke in Brussels.
