Certainly 39 people to life come through the violence around the presidential elections in Nigeria, report of multiple human rights groups Sunday.
In the country is waiting for the results of the presidential elections of Saturday. The final result is the coming days are expected. The Nigerian authorities do not exclude that by that time, more violence will be used.
The are the most exciting elections since the end of military rule in 1999. The two candidates, sitting president Muhammadu Buhari (76) and Atika Abubakar (72), have the victory both already claimed. Abubakar, the electoral commission called for the results now to make known, to further turmoil to avoid.
About 73 million eligible Nigerians could choose from more than seventy presidential candidates. However, it was already clear that only Buhari and Abubakar had a chance. They are the leaders of the two largest political parties.
Buhari is a retired legergeneraal who wants to start his second term. His campaign focused on fighting corruption in Nigeria.
Abubakar promised mainly an improvement as regards the economic recession.
