NASA released a stunning image of the March supermoon behind the Capitol building this week.

The beautiful and rather eerie image, you can see the rare a supermoon is partially obscured by the clouds above the capital city of the country.

Photographers around the world captured stunning photos of the full worm moon is the second closest of the year, three supermoons, according to EarthSky.

The March full moon, which is also referred to as the crow moon, the crust moon, the sap moon, and the sugar of the moon, and played an important role in the native american culture.

“In the north and the tribes of the north-east of the United States knew this as the crow moon, when the cawing of crows signaled the end of the winter,” NASA explained on its web site. “The other northern names in the crust of the moon because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing by night, or the sap or sugar moon, when it is time to tap maple trees.”

The southern tribes, however, also be the celestial event of the “worm moon” as a result, the castings left by earthworms in the thawing ground.
