Suburban school system in order to leave space for the Baltimore excursions

WESTMINSTER, Md. Students from a suburban school system will be allowed to go on excursions to Baltimore.

Local media report Carroll County school-director Stephen Guthrie announced Friday he will lift Jan. 2 the limitation on the place Nov. 22. Sheriff James DeWees had cited safety concerns, while the city experienced record crime.

Guthrie, says the sheriff “has played an important role in helping us evaluate and modify our excursion procedures and to communicate actively with Baltimore city officials to gain a better understanding of their plans for the public safety in the high tourist areas.” Travel guidelines now also tighter communication protocols among staff, and less free time.

The system says the announcements by the governor and the mayor about the plans for the violence are also the result of the change.
