‘Student despite digitisation more and more on the campus’
More and more students found on the campus, instead of that they study at home. According to the Association of Cooperating Dutch Universities (VSNU) have students in the last ten years the need for more given to physical meeting rooms and study places.
To be able to continue to meet to try universities, their workplaces more efficient. The last ten years the number of students by 22 percent and the number of employees by 4 percent. The NETHERLANDS did research to the university campuses in command of the universities.
Although ten years ago was deployed on the digitisation and the creation of a ‘digital campus, seem to be students now understand to choose a physical campus. The VSNU argues that the satisfaction of students and their study would benefit from more meetings and collaboration on the campus.
“The universities have the number of compulsory contact hours raised, but students also work outside of lectures to the university,” says Rianne Kouwenaar of the association Tuesday in the Faith. Also, campuses also are increasingly open on Sundays.
Universities have in recent years become more difficult when the filling of the working space because it is harder to number of students to predict. That is due to the growing number of international students. In addition, change the functional requirements of the spaces and labs by new and evolving teaching methods.
The association of universities recommends that universities also to to account for a shrinking number of students. For that reason, spaces are often already used flexibly, so that they are also to use for other purposes, for example for start-ups, workspaces or rental.
