Last year’s Oscar mix-up for the Best Picture award left many in shock and disappointment, except for Steve Harvey.

The comedian and TV presenter revealed to the Hollywood Reporter Monday that he “celebrated” the Oscar flub because I have him “off the hook” for 2015 Miss Universe accident when he gave the wrong contestant the coveted beauty pageant crown.

During the 89th Academy Awards show, Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty presented the award for the Best Picture and announced “La La Land” as the winner. Minutes later, however, she realized there was an envelope mix-up and the real winner was “Moonlight.”

Harvey was called to look into ‘La La Land’ with producer Jordan Horowitz thieves the envelope, and the announcement that there was a mistake.

“La-La-Land” was mistakenly announced as the winner for the Best Picture of last year’s Oscar awards.

“I was watching live and I probably knew what had happened, before anyone else — ‘because I saw the panic look on the producer of the face,” Harvey recalled. “When [Horowitz] ran out there and snatched the card out of Warren’s hand, that’s when I knew the redemption was mine.”

“I was finally off the hook. Yes, OK, I had that: “Oh, how could he,’ ‘That is a bonehead,’ ‘No one’s ever done that in the history of Miss Universe,'” Harvey said.

The 61-year-old said that the incident showed that mistakes can happen during a competition or an awards show.

“The Oscars is the biggest night in Hollywood, and if they did, I lit a cigar and drank a glass of whisky and celebrated. I was free! Thank you, God!”

Harvey received a major setback after he announced Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, The 2015 Miss Universe. The crown was placed on Gutierrez’s head when Harvey went back on the mic to say that he made a mistake, and that Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, was the real winner of the election.

Last year’s Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel even poked fun about the blunder, when it happened at the Oscars, says Harvey was to blame for the mix-up.

PricewaterhouseCoopers auditor Brian Cullinan was found at fault for the incident. The company has hired a security team for the Cullinan and his family because of the media attention.

Harvey told The Hollywood Reporter Cullinan’t “suffer” nearly as much criticism and threat, the comedian had to deal with.

“Oh no, the guy at Pricewaterhouse — he is not endured for nothing. See, the mistake that I made was against a nation with the name Colombia. They have a number of people there they are already in another business — so if you threats, you need it a little bit differently,” he said.
