MASHPEE, Mass. – The police are investigating the theft of a statue erected in Massachusetts, a shipyard as a tribute to a Marine, who was killed in Iraq.
Mashpee police chief Scott Carline says the life-size silhouette of a kneeling soldier missing from the front yard of a Mashpee home Sunday morning.
The image is made in honor of Daniel McGuire, who died in August 2008 at the age of 19 years. The McGuires have since replaced the picture with a sign with the text “Put It Back.”
The family says in a statement that the image “means nothing to those who removed, but it means a lot to our family.”
No arrests have been made of Monday.
