State wants to influence Fox-IT to security state secrets
The Dutch government is trying since may last year influence on components of security company Fox-IT. The company, which in 2015 is taken over by the British NCC Group, is responsible for the security of the Dutch state secrets.
This is clear from documents that NRC has requested with an appeal to the freedom of information Act (WOB). From internal e-mails and conversations, it appears that the acquisition of Fox-IT for all of the ministries, unexpectedly came.
The government would for many years already, has been taken into account with the risks that a foreign takeover would bring. Still, the ministries according to the NRC is not prepared to take on the acquisition in november 2015.
In the letter writes director Onno Eichelsheim of the military secret service MIVD in may to Fox-IT, that “all ongoing and new” procurement should be managed by a subsidiary of Fox Crypto.
Fox Crypto may of the MIVD will not be sold or merged without the consent of the ministry of Defence. Also for the split or dissolution of the company or the appointment of new directors, permission must be given.
Terms and conditions
Negotiations on these conditions are, according to the newspaper still on-going. The MIVD will also be informed if the NCC plan is “technology, knowledge and experience” abroad.
The British NCC’s management and employees may not obtain access to state secrets. If Fox-IT do not agree with the terms and conditions, threatens the government has no commands to give.
The MIVD stresses that a “dangerous situation” there is no question, and that Fox-IT, the commands are provisionally allowed to continue to run. Fox-It says the points of the ministry to understand.
