CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS URGES BOTH SIDES IN THE SENATE IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS, AFTER THE MARATHON SESSION BREAKS OUT IN SHOUTING MATCH

“If you do not expressly provide for the two articles objected to by the Senate, to animate the theories, that will be a precedent that, in contrast to the fathers’ design, and ruinous to the most important state structure in the protection provisions, wrote in our Constitution: the separation of powers,” she said.

The letter accuses house Democrats of the impeachment of Trump as a politically motivated reaction to the 2016 elections, and warned that there is a threat for the 2020 election as well.

“Even an unsuccessful effort to have the charges of the President undermines the integrity of the 2020 presidential election, because it weaponizes a process should only be initiated, in very rare cases, and should never be used for party political purposes,” the letter continues.

The attorneys General went to pick in addition to the impeachment article itself. The abuse of power article, they claimed, “is based on a constitutionally-flawed theory”, the “infinite and subjective” because it is based on the motivation of the President be had for the “exercise of concededly lawful constitutional authority” (emphasis in original) that the Democrats are considered to be corrupt.

“There is a legitimate basis for charges is not a President for acting in a legal manner, and perhaps politically advantageous,” they continued. “Such a standard would be the cause for the dismissal of virtually every President, past, present, and future.”

The attorneys General alleged that the second article of impeachment, obstruction of Congress, of the “equally flawed,” argues that the house of the theory means that a President is accused of can be, to invoke the executive privilege. In this case, the privilege attaches, “pointless”, they said, because it is the privilege of “under the unilateral control of the house would be.”

The precedent of this charge, she warned, “is an erosion of the separation of powers shared by the Executive and the legislature through submission of future presidents, the whims of the majority opposition party in the house of representatives.”

The letter comes as the study moves into full swing, with the opening arguments Wednesday after a heating session on the rules for the hearing a day earlier. House Democrats slammed Senate Republicans for their calls for witnesses, for now, right out of the gate.

“It’s embarrassing,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-NY, said on Tuesday. “The President is put to the test by the Senate, but the Senate is before the court in the eyes of the American people. You agree that all relevant evidence be submitted? Or will they betray their commitment to an impartial juror? … Will you allow us to help you with the entire record of the President’s misconduct? Or will you instead choose to be complicit in the President of the concealment? As far as I’m sad to say, I see a lot of senators to vote for a coverup to deny the vote to witnesses, an absolutely untenable voice, obviously the voice betrays.”

The GOP letter was among the lawyers of Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and West Virginia signed by the General state.
