South Carolina terminal evacuated after bogus claim of ‘dirty bomb’ on board of the ship

Four containers at a shipping terminal in South Carolina were examined and approved after a false threat of a “dirty bomb” the Pentagon said Thursday.

The FBI said late Wednesday it was investigating the claim on the Maersk Memphis ship in the Wando Terminal in the Port of Charleston.

The terminal was evacuated, together with a part of the Cooper River. Authorities said Thursday the terminal would re-open and the safety zone is lifted.

Capt. Greg Stump, commander of coast guard sector Charleston, said a YouTube “conspiracy theorist” a clam about a threat on board one of the ships, according to WCIV.

The employees told Fox Carolina they were all sent home and had to leave the terminal at around 9 pm

The skippers were also accompanied out of the water as a result of the situation, to the station.
