Sony starts movie studio to franchises of PlayStation games to film them

The gametak of the Japanese company Sony has a film studio set up to the franchises that are well known from his own console to film them: PlayStation Productions. The studio, the movies and series based on video games, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Sister company Sony Pictures is going to help with the distribution of the titles, but the production is by PlayStation Productions. The studio has already launched the first projects.

“We already have 25 years of experience in developing great games, franchises, and stories,” says Sony ceo Shawn Layden at The Hollywood Reporter. “For us it is now a good time to look to other opportunities within media, such as television, film, and streaming, to the worlds that we have created from a different angle to view.”

Layden said to have looked at how Marvel are comic books via film studio, Marvel Studios successfully managed to turn into movies. “It’s going too far to say that we are in their footsteps will occur, but we have a lot of inspiration out.”

According to Layden, it is not intended that the storylines from the games in the new titles to be repeated. “You have to understand from the world of games on a filmkijkend audience-oriented storylines.”

The PlayStation franchises, Gran Turismo, God of War and Uncharted fall under Sony. What the world of gaming Sony is going to film, it is still not clear. Also, it is not known when the first title comes out.
