LOS ANGELES – When the first trailer for the “Sonic the Hedgehog” dropped last year, it immediately became clear that the studio was more work to be done.
Fans took to social media to criticize the trailer, slamming the CGI work in a live-action version of the classic video game character.
Shortly after the trailer’s release, the film’s director Jeff Fowler, ” if that’s in the movie, the graphics would have to be touched for a while.

Now, the film will be released on Friday, the cast has responded to its first setback in an exclusive interview with Fox News.
Jim Carrey, who stars as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, has said that the protest “turned out to be a great thing.”
“It turned out to be a co-op, where everyone was in the creation of the world,” said Carrey, 58. “I believe that everyone should have a good feeling about it, ultimately, because of [director] Jeff Fowler, [and had] no ego involved at all. He just went, ‘These people have grown up with it, and for them it is very important that we are good.” I just think it’s a much better film because of it.”
The “Bruce Almighty” star also said that he did not create the characters based on what people are saying,” but that he also felt the elements of the film are not “in the bag” until it can be reviewed.
“That was my concern as well,” he admitted. “It turned out to be fantastic.”

Is James Marsden really felt that the fans are getting riled up over a character that they thought it was a good thing.
“I’m kind of looking at all that is unfolding, and it put a huge smile on my face as I thought of it, that is, the fan-base, that is, it is the fervent fan-base who care and wanted to be right, and wanted to feel good,” he said, in the first critique. “… So you want to make everybody happy and get it right.”
The actor, 46, called the ” adverse reaction “is a barometer of the intensity and the passion of the fans.”
Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular speedster, said the protest was the continued popularity of the character.

“We didn’t have a clue as to whether anyone else cared about the property,” said Schwartz, 38. “When the trailer came out, the idea that all these people were so enthusiastic and gave a lot of ideas and had a huge rush at us, as if, ‘Oh, we’ve got something special here. It is so unusual, ” and that sort of thing. It was almost as if it’s a high-energy boost for us, ‘Okay, we’re at a nice course, right now, let’s figure this out.'”
“Sonic the Hedgehog” is playing in theaters now.
