University of Minnesota Police department (umpd) were sent to the institution in East Bank light rail station at around 9.45 pm on Friday after a series of disturbing phone calls about juvenile males allegedly trying to attack passengers with metal pipes.
According to the police dispatcher-audio, umpd requested assistance after it was revealed that eight in ten men were “chasing people around with hammers” and they have a number of people injured.”

A University representative later confirmed to Fox News that law enforcement responded to a call that a group of individuals threatening people.
“The suspects, seven young males, fled the platform, but were stopped by the police,” the spokesman said Wednesday. “Two individuals with metal tubes were identified through video surveillance and witness descriptions. Because the suspects are young, limited information is available.”

There were no known injuries from the representative added. According to a redacted police report obtained by Fox News, only the two individuals that the metal pipes were cited.
“Upon arrival on the eastern shore of the LRT I saw a group of Somali boy running away from the officers traveling west on Washington Ave SE, and turn in a southerly direction between Moos Tower, Molecular and Cellular Biology building,” the report stated. “I walked behind them and heard officers yelling at the boy to stop. I turned on Delaware St SE, where officers had a number of Somali boy prone position with their arms spread out.”
