Smashing Pumpkins say band invited ex-bassist D’arcy Wretzky to reunite despite blunt claims

A spokesman of The Smashing Pumpkins, said the band tried to his ex-bassist D’arcy Wretzky in the coming reunion amid claims that they snubbed.

The representative said that the members of the band of Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlain have achieved with the performer.

“In the reunion of The Smashing Pumpkins, the band’s devotion remains to his fans and his music. That James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, and William Corgan has not yet played a show with D’arcy Wretzky for over 18 years. But it is not a lack of trying,” reads the statement to The Associated Press.

“Despite reports, Ms. Wretzky has repeatedly been invited to play with the group, to take part in the demo sessions, or at least to meet face-to-face, and in every instance they always postponed. We wish her the very best, and look forward to serving with you all very soon.”

Wretzky told Alternative Nation that it was “a complete lie” that Corgan invited her to play with them.

“He’s never invited me to anything. In fact, my feelings were a little hurt because he is the solo album tour, and he couldn’t tell me when it started,” D’arcy said.

Last month, Wretzky told the music website BlastEcho she would not be involved in the reunion. She said that the band rescinded their invite to join the reunion. Wretzky claimed Corgan mailed her a contract, but told her a month later “it was not a real offer.”

On Saturday, The Smashing Pumpkins placed a countdown clock on the website of the band at the end of the Thursday. Corgan also shared photos of himself, Iha and Chamberlin working in a recording studio on the social media.

The Grammy-winning band released his debut album in 1991. Her third album, “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness,” sold 10 million copies in the United States and reached diamond status.
