About 2000 years ago, in the time that Jesus supposedly walked the Earth, people are buried a young woman in a silk skirt in a stone tomb. She is surrounded by her body with meals for life after death, even placing a small bag of pine nuts on her chest.

Now, archaeologists have found the mummified body of that woman, whom she nicknamed sleeping beauty, given the length of time that she was buried, and the wealth with her. These include a beaded belt with a buckle made of jet (a precursor of coal), Their style vase and a round birch bowl with a Chinese mirror, according to The Siberian Times. The grave also contained ceramic artifacts, which are usually placed in Their graves, the archaeologists added.

“The mummy was in very good condition, with soft tissues, skin, clothes and belongings intact”, an archaeologist, who has helped in the discovery of the “Sleeping Beauty” told The Siberian Times. [Photos: The Amazing Mummies of Peru and Egypt]

Archaeologists, of St Petersburg Institute for the History of Material Culture of the mummy on the banks of the Yenisei River, just upstream of the giant Sayano-Shushenskaya dam in south-central Russia Republic of Khakassia. A decrease of the water level in May exposed the Sleeping Beauty is a rectangular tomb, which previously was underwater, archaeologists said.

“The lower part of the body was extremely well preserved,” Marina Kilunovskaya, an archaeologist at the Institute for the History of Material Culture, told The Siberian Times. “This is not a conventional mummy — in this case, the funeral was tightly closed with a stone cover, causing a process of natural mummification.”

It is remarkable that the grave was undisturbed, especially because the nearby dam that began between 1978 and 1985, the archaeologists said. An excavation of the grave goods showed that the mummified person was probably a slave during her life. For example, the grave goods were graceful, round make-up container was covered with birch bark and the Chinese mirror was housed in a felt case, the archaeologists said.
