Skippers will position itself convincing for semi-final 200 metres
Dafne Schippers has Tuesday convincingly placed for the semi-finals of the 200 metres at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS of athletics in London.
The Dutch won with force majeure its series in a time of 22,63. Tyna Gaither of the Bahamas was second in 22,98. The semi-finals are Thursday.
Schippers ran on well ahead, and kept the last meters. The 25-year-old Utrecht is titelverdedigster on the double sprint distance, after her gold two years ago at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Beijing.
Schippers has on paper a better chance in the 200 metres than in the 100 meters, the distance at which they Sunday bronze medal.
Olympic champion Elaine Thompson, who with a fifth place, a major disappointment in the 100 meters, let the 200 metres shoot. Skippers will be able to do with the American Tori Bowie, who Sunday gold medal.
Bowie this season-the best time run in the 200 meters (21,77).
