Skippers to semi-finals 200 meters, Boekelman reached final shot put

Dafne Schippers has Tuesday convincingly placed for the semi-finals of the 200 metres at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS of athletics in London. Tori Bowie, possibly the biggest competitors of the Dutch, joined just before its series. Melissa Boekelman reached the final of the shot put.

The 25-year-old Skippers won with force majeure its series in 22,63 and that was of all seven of the series the fastest time. The semifinals are Thursday at 22.05 hours and the final is a day later at 22.50 hours.

Schippers ran in her series of quick and large lead and could afford in the last meters, a lot of forces to spare. She looked several times, but saw that the competition was near.

After seven series it appeared that the Skippers the best time of all contestants had walked. Shaunae Miller-Uibo klokte the second time with with 22.69 and côte d’ivoire Marie-Josée Ta Lou, winner of the silver medal in the 100 meters, turned on the third time down: 22,70.

The Utrecht is titelverdedigster on the double sprint distance, after her gold two years ago at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Beijing.


Schippers saw after turn, not competitors


Schippers has on paper a better chance in the 200 metres than in the 100 meters, the distance at which they Sunday bronze medal. Especially now that Bowie himself has reported.

Boekelman pushed in her third attempt, a distance of 17,88 m and that was enough for a ninth place finish in the qualifiers. The best twelve went through to the final battle.

Nijel Amos from Botswana was the big favorite, but came in the final leg deficit and eventually had to settle for a fifth place.
