Skippers for the sixth time, Dutch female athlete of the year
Dafne Schippers and Churandy Martina are Saturday voted the best Dutch athletes of 2016. That was announced during the NK indoor Apeldoorn.
Schippers wins the prize for the sixth year in a row. The sprinter last year won silver in the 200 metres at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
For Martina it is the second time that he KNAU-athlete of the year. The Antillian was in 2012, even though the best.
Martina was in Rio fifth in the 200 meters and picked up the European title in the 100 metres in Amsterdam. On the double distance, he was disqualified.
Last year was Liemarvin Bonevacia voted the best Dutch athlete.
Marlou van Rhijn is chosen as the best paralympic athlete of 2016. She won gold in the 100 and 200 metres at the Paralympics.
