Singapore Airlines begins the longest scheduled flight in the world

Singapore Airlines launches in October for the route Singapore-New York, a flight of 16.700 km. The connection will be the longest scheduled flight in the world.

Passengers who book a ticket, will be between the Southeast Asian city-state, and New York’s Newark airport about 18 hours and 45 minutes on the plane sit.

The current longest flight in the world is one of the Qatar Airways, between the Qatari capital Doha and the New Zealand city of Auckland. That takes 17 hours and 40 minutes for a distance of slightly more than 14,500 kilometers.

The Singaporean airline earlier between Singapore and New York. The route was in 2013, stopped because society is the aircraft that they are on the connection involved (Airbus A350-500’s) out of service suggested.

Singapore Airlines will be the new route from October 11, three times per week (and from October 18, every day) to travel with an Airbus A350-900ULR with room for 161 passengers. ULR stands for “ultra long range”, or a version that is extra far can fly (in this case almost 18.000 kilometers, or more than 20 hours). Singapore Airlines is the first buyer of the ULR version of the A350, which in april its first test flight carried out.
