Florida school shooting: A look at some of the innocent victims
Florida Park shooting took the lives of at least 17 people, some of them are young students, some of them courageous teachers. Here is a look at the identified victims of the tragic event.
Teachers will soon have access to advanced Military technology which will help them to prepare for active shooters in schools.
The heartbreaking school shooting tragedy in Florida this week has left many wondering what can be done. The question on many minds is ‘what if another school shooting happens?’
Teachers will soon be able to train and prepare their students the best chance to survive. Quick action by the teachers, and the right action, it can potentially save countless lives.
Called EDGE (Enhanced Dynamic Geo-Social Environment), the technology is built on Epic Games’ Unreal engine and offers a virtual training space. It has been adapted for school staff and emergency responders to prepare for a shooter.
In the EDGE, the teachers can learn, practice and master how they can reduce the risks to life and maximize the chance of survival for their students.
The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate, and Army Research Laboratory developed the technology and refined with data from the past shootings in schools to make the simulations as accurate as possible.
SELF-HEALING TECH COULD TACKLE INVISIBLE WAR WOUNDS
For the first time, a school and a first responder team, anywhere in the country will be able to access and learn from top training – and totally free.

Teachers and practitioners will be able to train together to prepare for active shooter situations. Experience can improve survival.
What kind of training will be available?
The staff of the School can train you on what to do as soon as the threat breaks out.
In those crucial minutes before law enforcement arrives on the scene, they can learn what the best tactic is to keep students, and to protect themselves against this evil.
Every second is of vital importance, and EDGE can show teachers, for example, the best ways to build barricades, and locking doors.
Teachers can also train together with law enforcement on the best steps you should take as soon as they arrive.
SPECIAL OPERATIONS DOGS SET FOR NEW ADVANCED TACTICAL GEAR
Enforcement of the law can work on neutralizing the shooter, but also train to keep students and teachers safe.
When workers and staff of the school that train with each other, they can gain crucial experience to work together in advance of an incident.

How does it work?
Although the EDGE makes use of an advanced military gaming engine, it is anything but a game.
It is not more serious than the protection of children against violence and preparing to do.
Each user participates with an avatar. They have the ability to different roles – this could be a teacher, for example, takes on the role of a police officer, or vice versa.
FUTURISTIC BIONIC ARMS ARE NOW AVAILABLE FOR THE NATION’S BRAVEST
Police officers also have the opportunity to participate as a student, further enhancing their knowledge of active shooter situations.
A one-size-fits – all ” approach is not good enough. EDGE sets both the schools and the emergency services measure of the best-practice approach for a specific school.
Who can use the program?
Access to this program will be limited to verified and validated law enforcement agencies and school administrators.
EDGE provides a safe environment for the police, the firemen, the EMS, the uk and the staff of the school to train together.
The virtual training is not something that people can “play” by itself, and requires a larger group of participants.
If someone with evil intentions one way or the other to get into this program, it would be meaningless and not help them. The person would find himself in an empty school structure. There would be nothing to interact with and without other people. No students, no teachers, no law enforcement. No one.
Will students get?
The program is not suitable for students. Teachers and school staff can take what they have learned and perform live drills with students.
THIS FOAM CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE
Similar to fire drills, the school staff can practice what they have learned with the protection and the escape procedure in drills with the students.

Has it been used before?
The Army has long capitalized on advanced virtual training. If the training in person was difficult logistics or expensive, training virtually is a very useful alternative.
EDGE is a custom version of an Army virtual training platform. For the threats on the homeland, it was first adapted for the training to improve survival in a terrorist attack on a hotel incident.
In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008, officials of the V. S. developed the BORDER to help law enforcement prepare for similar attacks.
More than 500 responder agencies in 48 states are training on this first EDGE.
HOW INSECT CYBORGS COULD FIGHT TERRORISM
In a hotel setting, EDGE is used for training for active shooter, hostage situations, fires, and other incidents.
However, EDGE can be determined to train for a crisis.
What is the following?
Department of Homeland Security expects the school version out in the spring. Until now there is no specific date.
The EDGE would be used as part of a larger training effort, and comes with guidance on how to maximize the benefits of the training.
When rolling, how can teachers and law enforcement have access? The access will need to be applied. Once verified as a valid law enforcement agency, or school system administrator, then access will be granted. The user has access to both the system and all associated training material without cost.
