Shirma Rouse will be during Ladies of Soul as made guest appearances pay tribute to Aretha Franklin. The singer is in February with Glennis Grace, Edsilia Rombley, Candy Dulfer and Berget Lewis on the podium.
“Aretha Franklin is, for me, truly a class apart. She has with her unparalleled voice and songs are not only a lot of people hit, but also for celebrities like Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys is the reason they started singing,” said Rouse in a press release.
In conversation with NU.nl told the singer earlier about the tributeconcerten that they earlier this year did. “I am connected with her as an artist. I have the same background, come from the gospelhoek, and I am a black woman. She has an impact on the black culture in America. But I try on these nights, not Aretha, because that is going to give me never work.”
Ladies of Soul takes place this year on 15 and 16 February in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam.
