Sheriff: Escaped prisoner climbed over the barbed wire fence

MADISONVILLE, Tenn. – A Tennessee sheriff says an escaped prisoner climbed over a barbed wire fence around the jail’s recreation yard when a guard tried to grab his feet.

Monroe County Sheriff Tommy J. Jones II said in a press release that Ricky Dale Dotson II to escape the county jail Sunday, shortly before 6 p.m.

Jones said corrections officer tried to grab Dotson’s feet as he climbed, and the officers gave chase, but Dotson continues to be strong.

The sheriff’s office has used K-9 units. Dotson was arrested Jan. 20 on an aggravated burglary charges and was due in court Feb. 20. Further information is not yet released.
