President Trump abruptly announced Tuesday that the actions of the Minister of defence, Patrick Shanahan pulls out of consideration to lead the Pentagon and the he of the designation of the Secretary of the army Mark Esper as his replacement.
While speculation brewed has been reports for days about Shanahan’s status, the announcement came shortly after the release of an explosive USA Today that the FBI was probing a violent domestic dispute in 2010 between Shanahan and his then-wife as part of his background investigation.
He and then-wife Kimberly both told the police, the other punched them, according to the report. Shanahan denied the accusations.
“Even though my marriage ended in sadness and disappointment, I never laid a hand on my then-wife, and cooperated fully in a thorough study of the application of the law, in their being charged with assault against me, charges that I had dropped in the interest of my family,” Shanahan told USA Today.
The Washington Post also published a story Tuesday detailing other incidents of domestic violence with Shanahan’s family, including how his son was arrested in 2011 after allegedly beat his mother with a baseball bat. The Post said Shanahan defended his son, namely, in the time when he was in self-defense acted. Shanahan said the paper this week that the refurbishment of the incident “ruin my son’s life,” while the backup is claim removed from its original self-defence.

In the past month, the White house has a Trump announced to have the intention, Shanahan lead permanently to the Department, to his time serving as acting Secretary-General. At the time, said Shanahan, he was “honored” by trump the decision.
“If confirmed by the Senate, I will continue the aggressive implementation of our National defense strategy,” he said. “I’m still committed to, the modernisation of the force, so that our remarkable soldiers, Sailors, airmen and Marines have everything they need to keep our military fatal and our country safe.”
Shanahan worked at Boeing for over 30 years, before moving to the Pentagon as then-Minister of defense of Jim Mattis Deputy to the beginning of the Trump administration. He has filled the role of Minister of defense, since Mattis’ resignation last year.
