Sex offender driving instructor arrested on suspicion of murdering the 17-year-old student, authorities say

A California driving instructor who authorities said is a registered sex offender was arrested last week for sexual assault of a 17-year-old driving student during multiple lessons, authorities said Thursday.

Tom Lamb, 56, sexual violence, female driving student earlier this month in Rowland Heights, about 25 miles east of Los Angeles. The parents of the girl had allegedly paid Lamb for six lessons, and the first four were without incident, the Los Angeles Times reported. Lamb reportedly going to the teen during the last two lessons.

The victim reported Lamb to the authorities 12 March and an investigation was opened, the press release said. In the midst of the investigation, authorities discovered that Lamb was arrested at the end of 2014 for “annoying or molesting a minor” — also acting as a driving instructor, authorities said in a press release.

Lamb was arrested on 15 March in his Montclair home and taken into custody at the Walnut-Diamond Bar sheriff’s station, authorities said. He released two days later on $140,000 bond added, with his next appearance is scheduled for April 8 in Pomona.
