Sevenfold international Chess (35) stops playing football
Reuben Chess has after fifteen years of a point behind his pro career. The 35-year-old attacker, that is seven times the shirt of the Dutch national team wore, was, in the past three months without a club after his contract at ADO Den Haag was not renewed.
“It was a difficult decision, I have very well thought about and the time taken,” said Chess Friday in a video of the Premier league.
“But I’m already three months at home, and there I enjoy. I have time for my family and for my business and I’ve traveled; that are things that I never have been able to do.”
Chess, which has for some time been a private apparel company has got to say the past few months, the possibility of his career to extend into India, but those offerings could’t persuade him to go.
The right-winger began his career in the season 2002/2003 at Cambuur Leeuwarden. After eight seasons in the Jupiler League Cambuur, BV Veendam and VVV-Venlo he made in the summer of 2010 as transfervrije player a toptransfer to Feyenoord.
After a difficult debuutseizoen in The Cockpit conquered Chess in the 2011/2012 season and a move to Feyenoord. In more than four seasons for the People he came to 136 duels, eighteen goals and 29 assists.
His good form for Feyenoord made sure he was on October 12, 2012 in the world cup qualifier against Andorra (3-0) under coach Louis van Gaal made his debut in the Dutch national team. In total, he came in 2012 and 2013 to seven international matches and two goals.
The beginning of 2015 left Chess to Inter Baku in Azerbaijan, after his goals was lost at Feyenoord. After a half year returned the vleugelspeler to ADO back in the Netherlands, where he was last season, not many more in action.
