“This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I’ve included a version of The Divinyls worldwide hit ‘I Touch Myself’ to remind women to regularly check,” Williams captioned the video. “Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do, because it is a problem that affects all women of all colors, all around the world.”

“Early detection is the key – it saves so many lives. I hope this helps to remind women of that,” she said.

Williams said the music video is a part of the “I Touch Myself Project” in honour of the Divinyls’ lead singer Chrissy Amphlett, who died from breast cancer in 2013.

Williams previously opened up about her personal health struggle after the birth of her daughter, Alexis Ohanian Jr. The athlete told Vogue in February, she had dangerous blood clots in the lungs, which led to a burst C-section wound by an intense coughing days after the birth. She was bedridden for six weeks after returning home from the hospital.

On Thursday, Williams wrote an emotional Instagram post to her daughter.

“I will always protect you. I will always stand up for you. I will always guide you. I will always be with you. I was here for your mother. I love you, like nothing I have ever loved before. I thank Jehovah every day for you. Your mom,” Williams captioned a photo of her daughter in the performing and keeping of a tennis ball.
