Serbia demands extradition ex-prime minister of Kosovo
Serbia has threatened with action if the French authorities refuse a former Kosovar prime minister.
Minister Nela Kuburovic (Justice) warned on Friday that Serbia would be able to stop the extradition of suspects to France.
Former Kosovo leader Ramush Haradinaj was at the beginning of this year, at the request of Serbia, arrested in France. The former guerrillaleider was Thursday, by order of the court provisionally released. He must, however, remain in the country while the uitleveringsverzoek is assessed.
The Serbian authorities suspect Haradinaj of war crimes, and want him no matter what it costs to get your hands on. “If someone is convicted or indicted for brutal murders, torture, and rape is not extradited to Serbia, we do the same with French requests”, threatened minister Kuburovic.
The Yugoslavia Tribunal in The Hague, Haradinaj twice acquitted of murder, rape and torture during the Kosovo war.
