Selma Noort wins Thea Beckmanprijs for best historical novel
Selma Noort has with her book The sea came through the letterbox the Thea Beckmanprijs 2016 won. The price was Saturday morning issued at the Archeon in Alphen aan den Rijn. The price is an amount of 1.000 euros.
The jury selected this year originally Dutch-language historical children’s books for readers to twelve years. Last year was for children’s books for readers from twelve years of age. The winning book of 2016 is about the Flood disaster of 1953 in Zeeland.
In the jury report will Noort all the accolade for the way in which she “manages to make for her young audience with as few words a good running story to put down. You look through the eyes and crawls in the skin of a sober and realistic eight-year-old child that life, even in horrific events, take it as it comes.”
