Search engine DuckDuckGo reached a milestone of 10 billion contracts
Search engine DuckDuckGo has announced a four billion searches processed. In total there is more than ten billion times searched for information since 2010.
The search engine, who see themselves as a privacyvriendelijk alternative to the larger search engines are presenting, will see an exponential increase in the number of search queries, according to DuckDuckGo Thursday in a blog post.
According to the company behind the search engine is the increase partly due to the growing demand for software that is not a ‘digital footprint’ of the user leaves.
Research by Pew Research found that 40 percent of the surveyed internet users believe that search engines are no information need to keep track of the internet activities of the user.
Well-known search engines such as Google and Bing remember that users are searching for. That information is stored to search results to personalize, but also to sell to advertisers.
DuckDuckGo follows the users, to allow everyone the same results. Last year, the company has 225.000 dollar donated to nine organizations that fight for internet freedom.
