NEWPORT BEACH, California. – Officials say a young sea lion was so happy to be rescued after hit by the fishing gear off Southern California, jumped in a Coast Guard boat.
The coast guard says a Los Angeles-area crew on patrol pulled the sea lion free Saturday in the vicinity of Newport Harbor.
Officials say after a bit of persuasion, the sea lion jumped on board of the boat and posed for photos.
The animal was transferred to a crew from the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, which brought the sea lion to the rescue facility. It will be restored and released.
