School officials deny harassing former student about comments

SIOUX FALLS, S. D. – A South Dakota school district and high school principal has submitted a response to a lawsuit, denying the allegations they sexually harassed a former student about a comment she made in the student newspaper.

The Argus Leader reports that Addison Ludwig federal lawsuit accuses Each Point-Jefferson High School Principal Travis Aslesen of disciplining her last year after she mentioned “Netflix n’ chill with my friend” in a newspaper profile that her hobbies. The reaction is interpreted as the slang for casual sex.

Ludwig, who graduated in May, says that she was not aware of the sexual undertone, and thought that the term referred to hang out and watch tv shows.

The Elk Point-Jefferson School District’s response denies the contents of Ludwig of the complaint, including the question of whether Aslesen questioned her about whether she knew that the sexual nature of the term.
