Scarlett Johansson’s rise to superstardom was a bit of a rocky start.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Johansson, 34, said that she had been hypersexualized in her younger years.
“I feel like I was in my early 20’s and even into my late teens / early 20’s, I had the feeling that I kind of have to, in one way or another, typecast. I was in a very hyper-sexualized,” she admitted. “What is it, I think, to the point that it seemed to be OK for everyone else. It was a different time.”

Johansson’s film career began in 1994 with “North” and soon to be thriving in it.
One of her most notable roles in the movie “Lost in Translation,” in which her character catches the eye of Bill Murray’s middle-aged character. She was 18 at the time of the release of the film.
Johansson was also to be commended for the 2003 film “Girl with a Pearl earring” for the sake of playing the muse to Colin Firth’s character. The two actors will have a 25-year-old age difference.
Both performances earning her a Golden Globe nomination.

“Well, it wasn’t a part of my own story to tell and it was sort of made for me by probably a couple of dudes in the industry,” said Marvel star. “And I think it worked, but it was really hard for me to try to figure out how to get the most out of an ingénue, or, the other woman, because it wasn’t something that I was meant to be.”
In 2009, Johansson led the Broadway cast of “the View From the Top of it,” said she, “all the way to reset my entire way of thinking about how I might be able to work in and the different options that are available to me.”
She also added that she felt that she finally had the chance to tell the story.”
