Saudi king Salman appoints new minister of Foreign Affairs

The Saudi king Salman has his cabinet Thursday substantially reorganized. He named, among others, a new minister for Foreign Affairs and also a new chief of the National Guard.

Ibrahim al-Assaf, who was previously Finance minister, is now minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Saudi king named further Prince Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz as head of the National Guard. Also gave Salman a command to a rearrangement of the Saudi Kabinetscomité for Political and Security affairs.

The reorganisation is in a period of time that the Saudi government target of international criticism because of the murder of regeringscriticus Jamal Khashoggi in October in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Khashoggi was in the consulate to get the papers for his divorce in order to make. Within he was killed. According to the CIA, the Saudi crown prince, as a client, involved in the death of the journalist.
