SEOUL (Reuters) – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has unveiled a new design for a cell phone that folds into a square, leading to the folding of the devices, following the launch of its first model at the end of September.

The South Korean tech giant teased download.be AZDl_SP-w9E it is a new concept on Tuesday at the Samsung Developer Conference in 2019 in the United States of america.
“It’s amazing, with the folding technology is that it can also be much more compact than this one,” said Sally, Hyesoon Jeong, the head of the Frame of the R&D Group at Samsung’s mobile-communications, with a mock-up on the screen behind her.
“Really, do you?” Jeong said, followed by applause from the floor.
The world’s largest smartphone maker, is powering ahead, with the launch of a 5G phone, and $2,000 a foldable handsets, as it battles rivals such as Apple and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., in an increasingly saturated market.
The new design allows the unit to fold in half from side to side.
“This is a new form factor that we now have to examine not only fits easily in your pocket, but it will change the way you use your phone,” Jeong said.
China’s Huawei, have started taking orders last week that in China, its much-anticipated foldable smartphones, hoping to make up for the weak, overseas sales to be in the middle of the US to impose trade sanctions.
Samsung did not give any details as to when the square is to fold it the phone would be launched.
“Even though we are not able to comment on future products, Samsung is committed to be one of the fold-out category, including the investment in the development of new form factors,” Samsung said in a statement to Reuters.
