Patrols have been increased at New Jersey’s Rutgers University this week after a female student reported being sexually assaulted by a man who snuck into her unlocked dorm room while she was sleeping.
Rutgers police were quoted by local media saying that the student was attacked on Sunday morning, and in her Quad, 2 dorm on the Livingston Campus in Piscataway. They were strengthening patrols in response to the incident.
The police department said, after gaining access to the student’s unsecured dorm room, and the male intruder made “unwanted sexual contact” with her, the New York Post Monday reported.

When the student woke up and the offender fled, according to the Post.
The victim was not physically injured, WCBS-TV reported.
“It was quite a shock. I can’t really believe it, because there is, in most cases, this is the first time I had ever heard before, especially in the Quads most of the time, the doors have a good lock on it,” Rutgers student, Liam McRae, told the station.

The police put out a description of the suspect noticed the man was wearing a pair of glasses, a pink t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

Authorities students who live on campus about the incident in an e-mail blast which is advised to the students not to prop open the doors to the dorm buildings, the station reported.
