Russia’s Yandex releases a rival to China’s TikTok app

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian internet company Yandex on Monday released a short video-making app for the fashion and the style that they hopes for is to be able to compete with China’s ‘ TikTok app.

The Yandex app is called Sloy, and the Russian word for it is low, the company said in a statement.

At the moment it is only available in the App Store in Russia, belarus, and Kazakhstan.

With the release on Android is planned for 2020, and the company is planning to release it in Europe and the United States of america the following year, Yandex said.

TikTok, which has more than 500 million active users per month and is very popular among teenagers in China, it makes it possible for users to create and share short videos with special effects.
