Saskia Houttuin, that for RTL News reports from Africa, the Philip Bloemendal Award. This recognition of young talented journalistic presenters in the media is for the ninth time awarded in the Netherlands Institute for Sound and vision in Hilversum, the netherlands.
Houttuin received the award, a cheque of 3,500 euros, of comedian Wim Daniëls. “As a correspondent in Africa for RTL News from Nairobi in Kenya gives Saskia Africa a face”, according to the jury, which its describes as an “excellent professional”.
“She makes, and almost always only, short achtergrondreportages in a news program in which they are often people introduce that as a viewer, you can identify. With clear text and good imagery tells Sarah the story.”
The prize is presented once every two years. In 2016, it won presenter Eva Cleven (FunX, The Core). Previously also won Luuk Ikink (2012). The amount of money associated with the award is intended to devote to a training, so that the winner can further professionalise.
