Members of Congress on Thursday were almost experience compelled to, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi marathon floor speech of the night before, on a procedural error.

This was when the house was to approve an otherwise routine vote, the “Journal” or record of the previous day’s proceedings.

But on Thursday, a number of Republicans voted against the approval of the record – not to approve because they want the eight-hour, record-breaking speech by Pelosi, in which she railed against the budget talks, which came to contain a firm commitment to address ‘dreamers, young illegal immigrants in the United States as children.

The GOP objection to the magazine, could, however, have the problem that the house can’t move to other enterprises without the approval of this Protocol.

Fail the approval of the journal a vote, which, in turn, require the entire document, including Pelosi, eight-hour presentation in full – read aloud in the chamber would have triggered.

To do that might have pushed to the background the vital votes on a budget plan to avert a looming government shutdown.

But cooler heads prevailed on the House floor. Chose the house to approve the journal 208-194, with two voting members present. A total of 96 Republicans and 98 Democrats voted no.
